What to do if you are interested in a placement at the Skills Development Centre
You may ring the Skills Development Centre to arrange an informal visit. You will find our phone number on the contact page of this website. We will make you an appointment and explain the way the Service operates. This visit will take about an hour.
Once you have visited the centre and would like to apply for a placement you will be asked to fill in an application form. Referrals can be made through your Social Worker. Funding will have to be approved before you start CMSS. If you wish to fund your placement through Direct Payments we will be more than happy to assist you in the process.
Once we have received your application form and the funding has been agreed, CMSS will make an appointment with you to attend a 2 day assessment. The cost of an assessment is £150 per day. However if you are successful in receiving a placement this will be reimbursed.
It is vital that an assessment takes place prior to you attending CMSS, this is to determine the level of support you require and whether or not both parties feel the service is suitable for you.
During the 2 day assessment you will be given a full timetable of activities and the staff will focus on your abilities. They will then write an assessment and all the individual recommendations make up the final assessment report. Based on this report the CMSS will decide whether we can offer you a person-centred service.
The fee for attending CMSS Skills Development Centre is on average £92.09 per day. The fee includes transport to and from home and to the different activities.
Once the funding, is confirmed the Skills Development Centre will contact you with a starting date.
Please note CMSS has a waiting list for wheelchair users, but please ring and check to see how long the waiting list is.
